We are currently facing the worst displacement crisis since the Second World War. More than 60 million people are fleeing conflict, poverty and persecution. More than a million migrants and refugees crossed into Europe in 2015, sparking a crisis as countries struggled to cope with the influx. The crisis is creating division in the EU over how best to deal with resettling people.
We often forget that there is person behind each statistic; a human being with a story of resilience and hope. There is a great need to gain a balanced perspective on the current refugee crisis, with its ever-changing headlines. Certain mainstream media are painting a negative image on migrants and refugees as burdens on our economy and a danger to social cohesion. In the midst of tragedy, there is an unprecedented opportunity and this is part of the narrative that needs to change.
Come hear stories from remarkable people who have travelled across oceans and others whom have dedicated their lives to support refugees.
