Creators of Peace team hopes to train 1000 women in Baringo County by the end of 2016 to be creators of peace in their lives and families. This follows the courageous and emotional apology by the Pokot women to the women of the other communities in Baringo County, Kenya, the Creators of Peace (CoP) team made a decision to put its effort and focus in 2016 on Baringo County. In November 2015, the “CoP Baringo Project” was launched in Kabarnet by Peace Ambassador, Mr. Kosgei.

Chemolingot is one of the seven wards found in Tiaty constituency neighboring North Baringo, Kenya. Chemolingot is the Headquarters of East Pokot Sub County and is primarily inhabited by the Pokots. On 23rd November 2015, the Creators of Peace team travelled to Chemolingot for a three-day Peace Circles training for 24 women.

21 women from two conflicting communities took place between 1-3 Dec, 2015Anchor in Mukutani, South Baringo, Kenya. Mukutani is a small village in the far south of Baringo, neighbouring Laikipia and Samburu Counties. Mukutani is the home to two communities, the IIlchamus and the Pokots also been proposed to be the Headquarters of Baringo County under the colonial regime but because of the two communities fighting it was moved to Kabarnet.

Screening of the film by the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission in Nakuru

When the eight-minute film ended, there was complete silence. It lasted for almost as long as the film itself. The youths who had walked two hours to the screening, the church leader, the former administrator of the town, all were moved. It was the launch of The Road Back Home in Eldoret, Kenya on 11 February, 2016. The film depicts the story of Joseph Wainaina, an IDP (Internally Displaced Person), whose home in Eldoret was burnt down, whose uncle was killed, and yet who decided to forgive.

For three days the Kenya I care team in Subukia, moderated the workshop where speakers shared and trained on topics such as Relationships, Personal Values, Nutrition, Health Matters, Vocations, Soul Nurture, Family Life, Life Skills, and Social Responsibility, with exercises that helped participants to gain skills to reflect on in their personal lives.
