We are excited to inform you that the planning for the 2nd EAYC to be held in Uganda in February 2012 is at an advanced stage! The theme for the conference will be 'Youths for Peace: Together Making it Happen' and it will be held at the Pope Paul Memorial Centre, Kampala, 7 - 12 February 2012.

Harambee Africa Leadership Programme was launched on the 29 October, 2011 at the former National Assembly, Tafawa Balewa Square, in Lagos Nigeria. The programme brings together a total of 17 participants from 8 different countries.

The documentary film An African Answer, and the multimedia training package that goes with it, had its United States launch in New York on 25 October.

Following the International Day of Peace, International Peace Initiative (IPI) organisation had invited Initiatives of Change - Kenya to run a three day Creators of Peace Circles workshop for fifteen women leaders from different corners of Meru county.

As a follow up to the Kenya I Care peace workshop that took place towards the end of August 2011 in Ndaragwa, Mike Muikia and John Njoroge from Subukia IofC team had a follow up workshop on 3 September 2011 with 29 young people, who were victims of the 2007/2008 post election violence with the theme forgiveness and reconciliation.

'Kenya I Care' has continued to roll up activities in the different regions of Kenya in a bid to shape the future of the country. Samuel Muiruri tells the story.

SouthSudan is the youngest state in Africa after a successful separation from North Sudan. It is a country that has been through bloody war for decades and its history is definitely a very emotional one. Ann Njeri shares of her experience during her recent visit in South Sudan.

‘I have always been the first to run towards where there is chaos and violence. I will now be thinking first before running to join chaos and violence’ said one lady who was one of the 12 women from the 13 villages of Kibera slums who participated in a Creators of Peace Circles workshop, 7-9 September, 2011.

There was an inspiring peace workshop for 30 participants, most of them young people, at Wiyumiririe village in Ndaragwa, Central Kenya on 26-28 August, 2011.
